Amerada Hess 2003 Indonesian oil production sharply down

US oil and gas company Amerada Hess reported on Wednesday its Indonesian crude production was sharply down to 1,000 barrels per day (BPD) in 2003 from 4,000 BPD the previous year.

The company did not provide further detail.

Last April, Amerada sold its main producing Indonesian asset, the Jabung block in South Sumatra. The remaining the company?s assets in Indonesia are the Pangkah block in East Java (66 percent and operator), the Jambi-Merang block onshore South Sumatra (25 percent), and Tanjung Aru block in Makassar Strait (50 percent and operator).

Amerada is committed to sell its natural gas from Pangkah block to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN and state fertilizer firm PT Petrokimia Gresik starting 2005.(robert)
