At least 30 American citizens still stay and work in Lhokseumawe, Aceh despite the United States government warning to leave the troubled province, Waspada reported on Friday.
Sources told the newspaper that most of the American citizens work for Mobil Oil Inc and PT Arun could not leave the place because most of them hold the key positions in the two companies.
Most of the American had already been used to the situation and they seemed they did not really care about the warnings. "The warning was actually issued three months ago but it was published by newspapers only recently," one of the sources said.
The U.S. government issued a warning letter last week to advise the American citizens not to visit the troubled Aceh province due to the escalation of armed conflicts between the pro-independence movement and security officials. The U.S. government also asked the American citizens, who have stayed in the province, to leave the place. (*)
