Amman Mineral plans 140 MW power plant

Gold and copper mining firm PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) is considering to develop own power plant with capacity of 140 MW to provide electricity supply for its planned copper smelter in West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Saturday.

The paper quoted AMNT President Director Rachmat Makkasau as saying that the power plant project will be developed by the company?s new subsidiary PT Amman Mineral Energi. ?The electricity requirement for the smelter is 140 MW,? he said.

AMNT through subsidiary PT Amman Mineral Industri plans to develop a copper smelter at its Batu Hijau mine site in West Sumbawa with design input capacity of 2-2.6 million tons per annum, greater than initial plan of 1-2 mtpa.

The company hopes to appoint the contractor for the front end engineering design (FEED) and for the engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) in December of this year. (*)
