Anadarko divests stake in S. Sumatra block

US oil firm Anadarko Petroleum Corp. reported on Monday that it elected to divest its 51% interest in the onshore BungaMas PSC located in South Sumatra.
The company said in quarterly operations report that it wanted to focus attention and investment on the offshore and deepwater portfolio, where the company operates four blocks and is a partner in two additional blocks.
The company did not give further detail.
The company also reported that during the second quarter of 2008 Anadarko participated in a 2 multi-azimuth 3D survey over the Aster Field (420 km2 ) and an 1,800km2 3D in the deepwater fold belt region of the Bukat offshore block in Tarakan Basin.
Anadarko has 33.75 percent interest in Aster oil field, which plan of development is currently being prepared, while operator Italy?s Eni SpA, has the remaining balance. (alex)
