Anadarko farms in S. Sumatra exploration block

US oil firm Anadarko Petroleum has acquired 75 percent working interest in Bungamas PSC onshore South Sumatra late last year, the company said in a quarterly report released Tuesday.

The company said it was also taking over operatorship of the 1,400 square-mile block.

No detail of the acquisition was provided.

Prior to the acquisition, the block? interest was 100 percent held by local firm PT.Erry Guna. The block was awarded in 2005.

Anadarko has interest in several exploration blocks in East Java and East Kalimantan. It has also agreement with JSX-listed oil firm PT.Medco Energi Internasional Tbk. to conduct joint exploration at the latter?s blocks in Indonesia. (alex)
