US oil firm Anadarko Petroleum is in talks with undisclosed parties for partnership in its North East Madura III exploration block in East Java, the company said in its quarterly report released Thursday.

Anadarko has 100 percent working interest in the block. Earlier the company said it would retain majority holding in the block.

An industry source told Petromindo.Com that there are several companies that are currently negotiation with Anadarko including JSX listed oil companies Medco Energi and Energi Mega Persada, US companies Chevron Corp. and Murphy Oil and a Chinese company.

The company said it planned to spud the first well in the block 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year.

The block was awarded to Anadarko by Indonesian government in 2004.(alex/godang)
