PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia (MNK), a subsidiary of listed firm PT Ancora Indonesia Resources, will build a new ammonium nitrate (AN) plant to further increase its AN production to between 85,000 and 90,000 tonnes next year and about 140,000 tonnes in 2012 from about 37,000 tonnes at present.
Ancora?s CEO Dharma Djojonegoro said in Jakarta on Monday that the new plant was expected to begin production in June, next year. The increase in the production would be needed to meet the surging demand, he said, adding that the company still import from China, Thailand and South Korea because the current production was only enough to meet 20 percent of the demand.
This year?s sales are expected to increase to between 200,000 to 220,000 tonnes from 192,000 tonnes, last year. (giok)
