Aneka Tambang's profit surges by 63.5%

Publicly listed general mining company PT Aneka Tambang booked net profit of Rp 383.15 billion (US$=10,700) last year, representing an increase of 63.5 percent over the figure in 1999.

According to reports obtained by Petromindo, the mining company's total sales rose by 62.5 percent to Rp 1.57 trillion in 2000, compared to Rp 966.15 billion in the previous year. The company's before gross profit rose to Rp 706 billion or an increase of 69 percent from Rp 418.12 billion in 1999.

Total operating income rose to Rp 549.58 billion from Rp 318.02 billion in the previous year.

The company is the second state owned mining company listed in the Jakarta Stock Exchange after tin mining company PT Tambang Timah. The government still holds a 65 percent stake in Aneka Tambang, which operates mostly nickel and gold mines. (*)
