Announcement of tender winner of Pemalang power plant delayed

?The announcement of the winner of the Pemalang coal-fired power plant project has been delayed due to a request from PLN (state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara),? said Dedy Priatna, the deputy to the minister of the national development planning.
He said that the announcement of the winner is expected before the opening of the Indonesia-International Infrastructure Conference to be held in April.
The Pemalang power plant project is the first infrastructure projects to be built under the public private partnership program. The construction of the power plant which will have a capacity of 2x 1,000 megawatt has become the first infrastructure project which has received a government guarantee.
Based on government regulation (PP) No. 94, Year 2010, the project is also expected to get a tax holiday, he said.
Seven foreign companies have passed the prequalification phase of the tender, that is 1) China Shenhua Energy Company Limited 2) CNTIC ? Guandong Yudean Consortium 3) GDF Suez - J Power Consortium 4) Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO) 5) Marubeni Corporation 6) Mitsubishi Corporation 7) Mitsui-International Power Consortium.
The project will be developed under independent power producer (IPP) and build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) schemes with PLN obliged to buy the power supplies under a 25-year power purchasing agreement (PPA). (*)
