The government plans to provide incentive in the form of value added tax (VAT) exemption to encourage the development of domestic anode slime smelter.

Monty Girianna, an official at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, said that a new regulation on the planned incentive is expected to be issued later this year.

State-owned mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam), which plans to cooperate with copper concentrates smelter operator PT Smelting in Greisk, East Java, to develop an anode slime smelter, welcomes the planned incentive. ?Thank God, we?ve been fighting for this (incentive) for quite long,? said Corporate Secretary of Antam, Tri Hartono to Kontan daily.
