The Directorate General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources unveiled the 23rd batch of IUP mining business permits which have obtained the so-called clear and clean (C&C) status.
The directorate said in a statement that another 91 IUPs have obtained the C&C status.
The directorate, however, also said that 38 IUPs saw there C&C status cancelled, and a total of 200 IUPs were revoked.
The ministry launched the C&C program in a bid to help clean up the messy mining sector resulting from aggressive issuance of IUPs in the past by local governments.
Mining companies must meet a number of requirements to be able to obtain the C&C status including paying properly financial obligations to the state, having proper documentations, and the concessions not overlapping with that of other miners' or forest areas.
Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Bambang Gatot Ariyono said early in February that as per January 30, a total of 6,230 IUP mining business licenses have obtained the so-called clean and clear certification (C&C) from the ministry.
