Indonesian nickel and gold miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) reported net sales in the January-September period rose 11.4 percent to Rp1.22 trillion from Rp1.097 trillion a year ago.

Antam said in a statement it had sold 6,025 tonnes of nickel in the nine-month period or equal to 58 percent of its revised annual target of 10,150 tonnes. "Antam expects to meet its target of 10,150 tonnes, which is only 1.5 percent less than the initial target," the statement said.

Earlier this year Antam shut down one of its ferronickel smelters in South East Sulawesi due to an accident and had said it might not be able to meet a 2001 production target of 10,300 tonnes of nickel.(*)
