Antam acquires coal prospect to secure supply for power plant

IDX-listed state miner PT.Aneka Tambang said it has acquired a coal mining prospect in Jambi.

Corporate Secretary Bimo Budi Satriyo said the prospect, which is in general survey stage, will be directed to secure coal supply to its proposed 2x75-MW power plant, which is planned to be built in its nickel smelter in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi.

Bimo said the company is currently searching for partners to develop the power plant. ?We?re currently in talks with potential partners to develop the power plant,? he said, adding the feasibility study will be completed in February 2009, with construction expected to start in 2010. (denny)
