Antam aims for higher production, sales volume

IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) plans to increase production and sales volume of its key mining commodities including ferronickel and gold this year.

Antam said in a statement issued Thursday that ferronickel output this year is targeted to increase by 30 percent to 24,100 tons of contained nickel in ferronickel (TNi), compared to last year?s target of 18,500 TNi.

The company said that the higher target was made following the completion of the expansion of its Pomalaa ferronickel plant in Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Antam is also seeking to increase gold production from its Pongkor and Cibaliung mines in West Java Province to 2,270 kg this year, compared to last year?s target of 2,256 kg.

In terms of sales, the company plans to achieve ferronickel sales volume of 24,100 TNi this year, higher than last year?s target of 19,200 TNi.

Antam, which also buys gold from third parties via trading, however, targets flat growth in gold sales this year at about 11.4 tons.
