IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk said that the planned anode slime processing and previous metal refinery (PMR) project is targeted to produce around 60 tons of gold per year when the facility is up and running.

Agus Zamzam, Antam's Operations Director told Petromindo.com recently that gold and copper giant PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) produces around 6,000 tons of anode slime per year. "From that anode slime volume there is about one percent of gold commodity, hence at least there will be around 60 ton of gold produced per annum if the project is running," he said.

Antam, PTFI, and PT Smelting signed a MoU in April to jointly develop the PMR project, to be located in Gresik, East Java. It remains unclear, however, when the project will be realized.
