State mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) booked a net profit of Rp 104.98 billion in the first quarter of this year, rising 8 percent over the same period of last year, Suara Karya reported on Thursday (June 7, 2001).

The company said in a statement that the increase in net profits was especially resulted from the depreciation of the rupiah against the U.S. dollar, as some of its revenue was denominated in U.S. dollar.

In dollar terms, Antam's net profit in the first quarter of this year dropped 19 percent to US$10.6 million over the same period of last year. (*)
