State mining companies PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) and PT Bukit Asam said they were not interested to buy the shares of coal mining company PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC).

Antam's president Dedi Aditya Sumanegara said on Tuesday Antam was not interested to buy the shares as it now focuses its attention on the expansion project of its nickel mine in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi.

"Coal is not our core business. Our core business is metal minerals. We now concentrate on the expansion project and our gold mine in West Java," he said on the sidelines of the ceremony to award the ISO 9002 certificate to Bukit Asam.

Earlier, coal director of the Ministry of Mines and Energy Sudjoko Tirtosukotjo said the ministry was offering the 30 percent shares that KPC had to divest this year to 11 Indonesian state and private companies, including Antam and Bukit Asam.

Antam was reportedly offered 2 percent share.

Separately, Bukit Asam president RA Sunardi said the company was also not interested to buy KPC's shares. The company was reportedly offered 2 percent share of KPC.

"There are not thinking about it. We are too busy right now," Sunardi said, adding the state coal company was concentrating on its plan to float its shares in the near future. (*)
