The state copper and gold mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) has been criticized for its small community development spending.

The Republika daily quoted House of Representatives member Max Moein as saying that Antam posted a net profit of Rp 225 billion in 1998, but its community development spending was only Rp 1.3 billion.

He said that Antam should provide more to the people because according to the country's constitution, the natural resources of the country should be controlled by the people.

Antam is also a publicly listed company.

Max was speaking during a gathering with several mining state companies.(*)
