Coal miner, PT Indonesia Coal Resources, a subsidiary of the state-owned mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said that the company is likely to acquire more coal concessions including in Kalimantan as it planned to built coal-fired power plants to generate electricity for its smelter facilities.

Petromindo's source of information from within the company said that the plan has been discussed in order to support the development of smelters to process bauxite in West Kalimantan.

?We plan to build two smelter facilities for bauxite in West Kalimantan. To support, we need sustainable supply of coal. We also plan to build mine-mouth power plant,? the source said.

Antam currently through Indonesia Coal Resources has one coal concession in Sorolangon in Jambi, which is expected to produce 1 million tons this year, higher than the 500,000 tons last year. All of the coal have been sold to the open market.
