State miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk said on Wednesday that the company is currently in talk with unidentified French company to develop Tayan alumina project in West Kalimantan after two Japan investors pull out of the project due to legal and contract uncertainty.

?We are seeking cooperation from France to develop our bauxite in West Kalimantan into alumina," Karsana Karim, an Antam senior official, told reporters on the sideline of a French-Indonesian energy meeting.

"We need a partner that has technology, market access and financing. I think France has that criteria," he added

The US$177 million project is planned to be able to produce 300,000 tons of chemical grade alumina per annum from the huge bauxite deposit in Tayan. (godang)
