Antam initiates construction of Line-4 Pomala Ferronickel

State-owned mining giant PT Antam Tbk recently stated it has signed the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract with the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd and PT Wijaya Karya Tbk consortium to start the construction of the Line-4 ferronickel plant, which is part of Pomala extension program.
The project's value is estimated at US$102 million, expected to complete in 27 months since the start of the construction.
Once completed, the 38MW capacity Line-4, completed with facilities such as ore preparation and calcination, including 260 tons per hour rotary dryer and 90tph rotary kiln, is expected to substitute the operation of Antam's 17MW furnace-1 of its ferronickel I plant.
It was previously reported that Antam's Pomala extension program consisted of 8 work packages, namely Package I: Jetty & Facilities, Package II: Belt Conveyors, Package III: FeNi Plant-1, Package IV: Ladle Furnace, Package V: Ore Preparation & Calcination, Package VI: Electric Smelting Furnace, Package VII: Oxygen Plant, and Package VIII: the construction of 2x30MW coal fired power plant.
