IDX-listed PT Aneka Tambang is likely to miss its ferronickel and gold production targets for the first-semester of this year due to technical and non-technical issues.

Antam President Director Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo said that in the first quarter, one of the production lines at the company?s ferronickel smelter in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi, had to undergo overhaul maintenance, causing lower production.

"We will try to find ways to maintain the full-year (ferronickel) production target of 22,200 TNi," Arie said on Wednesday.

In first quarter, Antam produced 2,934 TNi of ferronickel, or lower than 4,357 TNi in the first quarter of 2016. Total production last year was 20,393 TNi.

Antam has completed the replacement of roof electric smelting furnace (ESF)-3 and optimization of ferronickel production equipment, comprising of relining rotary kiln, rotary dryer and slag pond modification.

Antam also may miss the gold production volume target in the first half of this year due to landslide at the Cibaliung gold mine, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province.

"The production volume drops by 50 percent to only 75 kg of gold per month," Arie said.

Antam produced 594 kg of gold in the first quarter of 2017, or higher than 479 kg in the first quarter 2016. Last year, it produced 2,207 kg of gold.
