State-owned miner PT Aneka Tamban (Antam) announced Wednesday its 2001 net profit fell by 6.5 percent to Rp 358.16 billion (US$1=Rp 9,600) compared to Rp 383.15 billion in the previous year.

The lower profit was largely due to a higher cost of sale, which rose by 27 percent to Rp 1.09 trillion, the gold and nickel mining firm said.(*)
