State nickel miner PT.Aneka Tambang will invest US$15 million to build mini LNG receiving terminal in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi to power the company’s nickel smelter.
Director of Finance Kurniadi said the company targeted to commence construction of the LNG terminal within the next two years.
LNG supply for the terminal may come from Tangguh LNG project or Sengkang PSC in South Sulawesi.
Earlier, Director Dharma Ambiar said that Antam is looking to buy 150,000 tonnes of LNG per annum starting 2014. “Antam has notified BPMIGAS and BP about our intention to buy LNG from Tangguh third unit,” he said.
Antam is planning to substitute expensive fuel oil with gas to fuel its power plants to cut its ferronickel production costs. (godang)
