Antam production up in Q3 2002

Publicly listed general mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said on Friday it had produced 2,271 tons of ferronickel during the third quarter of 2002, a 46 percent increase from the second quarter of 2002 and a 21 percent increase from the same quarter last year.

The company also said gold production for the third quarter had reached 1,190kg (38,259 t.oz), a 17 percent increase from the third quarter of 2001.

The company?s ferronickel sales increased to 1,840 tons, a rise of 35 percent over the second quarter of this year and a 25 percent increase from the same period of last year.

Meanwhile the company said during the third quarter total exploration expenditures had reached Rp109 billion (US$=Rp 9,200), an increase of 9 percent compared to the previous quarter.

The company is majority owned by the government. It is listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange and an Australian bourse. (robert)
