Antam Q1 nickel production down

Publicly listed state miner PT. Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said on Thursday it had produced 1,800 tons of contained nickel in ferronickel in the first quarter of this year, a 36 percent drop compared to the previous quarter and a 17 percent decrease compared to the same quarter last year.

Antam said the lower output was due to the shut down of FeNi I for spot lining repairs, which took place over 9 days in January.

Production of high grade nickel ore in the quarter also declined to 684,577 wet metric tons (wmt) compared to the previous quarter of 772,667 wmt.

The company also said that gold production was 7 percent above target at 1,033 kg on higher gold grades, while silver production reached 7,048 kg. (robert)
