Antam reports lower output of gold, other commodities

IDX-listed mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said Monday that gold production in the first quarter of this year declined by 11.46 percent to 15,400 oz from 17,394 oz in the corresponding period of last year.
The company, which also buys gold via trading, said in a statement that gold sales volume declined by 23.33 percent to 93,462 oz in the first quarter, year-on-year. It added that gold accounted for 76 percent (Rp 1.5 trillion) of the first quarter revenues of Rp 1.98 trillion. The company did not provide comparative revenue figure.
Gold has been Antam?s largest source of revenue since 2014, overtaking nickel ores, after the government banned earlier in the year the export of raw mineral ores. Ferronickel was the second largest revenue contributor.
In line with the lingering commodity downturn, Antam also reported lower production and sales volume for other commodities such as ferronickel and coal.
Elsewhere Antam said in the statement sales volume of nickel ore in the first quarter of this year reached 201,050 wmt. Antam sold nickel ore to third party domestic smelter.
Antam said exploration activities were focused on gold and nickel during the quarter, with total preliminary cost of Rp 1.26 billion.
