IDX-listed mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) expects the company?s chemical grade alumina (CGA) plant currently under construction in Tayan, West Kalimantan, will be able to begin commercial operation in October this year.

Antam?s president director Tata Miraza said in Jakarta on Thursday that the construction of the CGA plant had now been 95.7 percent completed.

?The CGA plant will have production capacity of 300,000 tons a year,? he said, adding that the plant would need at least 800,000 tons of bauxite ore to be able to operate at a full production capacity,? he said, also stating that the supply of bauxite ore will come from bauxite mines located near the plant.

He said that about 200,000 tons of the total production would be exported to Japan, and the other 100,000 tons for the domestic market. In the second stage of the plant development, the plant?s output capacity would be increased to 500,000 tons a year.
