Publicly listed diversified mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk announced on Monday the completion of spot relining repairs on its first ferronickel smelter, FeNi I, in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi.
The company said the smelter had been switched back on January 29, and had resumed full power load three days later.
?Repairs on the protective lining of he FeNi I smelter, which can reach temperatures of 1,000 degrees centigrade, are necessary for Antam to achieve this year's production target of 10,000 tons of nickel contained in ferronickel,? the company said in a statement.
Antam said it also anticipated the improvement of the utilization rate of FeNi I and the prevention of further repairs this year, as the nickel price appears to continue to strengthen.
Antam is majority owned by the Indonesian government. (robert)
