IDX-listed mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said that a second transformer furnace at its ferronickel factory (FeNi II plant) in Pomalaa, South Sulawesi, suffered a breakdown in the early morning of July 15.

Antam President Director Tedy Badrujaman said in a statement that the company is currently conducting investigation on how the incident had happened.

He added that the company would try to maximize production at its other ferronickel factories to compensate for a decline in the output of the FeNi II plant.

Tedy, however, said that the impact of the machinery breakdown on total ferronickel production would be minimal.

Following the breakdown, Antam said it has cut down the power load at the plan.
