State nickel miner PT. Aneka Tambang tbk resumes operations of its second unit ferronickel smelter known as FeNi II on Tuesday after completing overhaul, a company official said Tuesday.
Antam president Dedi Aditya Sumanegara told reporters the overhaul would increase the smelter?s production capacity by 10 percent.
FeNi II commenced overhaul in August 2004.
Meanwhile, Antam?s director of finance Kurniadi Atmosasmito said Antam would sign joint venture agreement to develop its West Kalimantan Tayan alumina project with Japan?s Sumitomo and Marubeni. He, however, did not disclose further detail about the planned JVA.
The joint venture will invest about US$220 million to build the project, which would have a capacity to produce 300,000 tons of chemical grade alumina a year. (dino)
