IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said that gold sales volume in the third quarter of this year jumped by 129 percent to 12,648 kg (406,643 ounces) compared to the corresponding period of last year.

President Director Tedy Badrujaman said on Wednesday that the surge in sales volume was a result of export to India and the opening of several gold boutiques at home this year. He said that gold had been mostly sold in the domestic market in the past.

Antam operates the Pongkor and Cibaliung gold mines in West Java. The company is currently looking for new mines as the Pongkor mine is set to cease operation in 2019.
