Antam?s power plant in Pomalaa to start operation in September

IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk said its coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 2x30 MW in as part of Expansion of Pomalaa Ferronickel Plant Project, in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi province, is expected to begin commercial operation in September of this year.

Agus Zamzam, Antam?s Operational Director told journalists recently that the power plant has entered the commissioning stage.

?The commissioning started in March 2016, and we expect COD in September,? he said, adding that around 5 MW of the power plant capacity will be allocated for the local community through state-owned power firm PT PLN.

Agus added that the development of the power plant is aimed to increase the efficiency of the existing ferronickel smelter.
