IDX-listed mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk said that its new 2x30 MW coal-fired power plant in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi, is expected to start commercial operation at the end of this month, despite recent problem at its turbine blade.
This was said by Agus Zamzam, Antam?s Operational Director, to Petromindo.com recently. He said that the power plant will support the expansion of the company?s ferronickel plant in Pomalaa. About 5 MW of the electricity output will be allocated to the local community via state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.
In July, Antam reported that there was a problem at a turbine blade of the power plant, causing a minor obstacle in completing the project.
Elsewhere, Agus said that Antam?s annual ferronickel production will increase to around 24,000 TNi next year following the completion of the Pomalaa plant expansion project from the current annual output of 18,000 TNi.
