Antam's sales rise 56%

State general mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) booked a soaring sales for the third quarter of this year. Sales rose by 56 percent to Rp 372.06 billion compared to the same period of last year.
The company's total income in the first nine months of this year reached Rp 1.1 trillion, compared to Rp 592.64 billion booked in the same period of last year.
"The increase is partly boosted by the soaring nickel prices in the international market, and also an increase in our sales volume," the company said in a statement.
Antam sold a total of 6,724 tons of ferro-nickel in the first nine months of this year, compared to 5,647 tons sold in the same period of last year.
But the sale volume of ferro-nickel in the third quarter of this year dropped drastically to 1,722 tons from 2,808 tons in the third quarter of last year.
The company targeted to sell a total of 10,000 tons of ferro-nickel by the end of this year.
The sales of ferro-nickel contributed the largest portion of income to the company, followed by sales of gold.
Antam booked a profit of Rp 212 billion in the first semester of this year, exceeding the company's target of Rp 120 billion. (*)
