PT Indonesia Chemical Alumina (ICA), a chemical grade alumina (CGA) pioneer producer in Indonesia, is targeting to produce around 158,000 tons at its Tayan CGA plant in Tayan, Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan this year.
President Director Tatang Hendra told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the Tayan plant is ramping up its production after commissioning in January 2015.
"For the first year of commercial production, we?ll still be in the process of ramping up and stabilizing our production, and we are expecting to reach the maximum production capacity of up to 300,000 tons in the third year of production," he said adding that the company started exporting its products in the first quarter of the year to Japan, South Korea and China.
Tayan applies the Bayer process for treating bauxite ore into alumina (Al2O3). The Bayer process involves three stages namely continuous dissolution process (liquor clarification process), precipitation process and calcinations process.
ICA is 80 percent owned by IDX-listed sate owned firm PT Antam (Persero) Tbk and 20 percent by Japanese firm Showa Denko K.K.
