State miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said Wednesday its feasibility study on the Tayan bauxite project in West Kalimantan is still on track following the original schedule.
?The study will be competed this month (December) and we will evaluate them next March", the company?s operation director Alwin Syah Loebis told Petromindo.Com.
The study outcome would enable Antam to decide whether or not to go ahead with its plan of developing the 108-million ton bauxite deposit and produce alumina from the bauxite ore. Alumina is the raw material for producing aluminum.
Japanese consultants are assisting Antam?s team to complete the project, Alwin said.
Another official of Antam, Eko Endriawan, was quoted as saying that production at Tayan was expected to be 850,000 tons of bauxite ore annually, which would yield 300,000 tons of smelter-grade alumina. (godang)
