IDX-listed state-owned mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk has finally secured an IUP mining permit from North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province, for a 6,213 hectares concession.
The issuance of the IPU ends an overlapping permit problem on the concession located in Tapunopaka and Pulau Bahubulu areas.
Antam plans to use the concession as part of its new nickel pig iron project. ?The deal (with the North Konawe regency administration) will ensure the construction of nickel pig iron plant as one of our major project development and part of The Masterplan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia's Economic Development (MP3EI) in Sulawesi Corridor,? PT Antam President Director Tato Miraza said in a statement on Monday.
The nickel pig iron project, with estimated 24,000 TNi a year of production capacity, is one of Antam?s development projects to process nickel ore and produce nickel pig iron or low grade ferronickel. The company has completed the feasibility study for the project.
