Antam starts ore export

IDX-listed miner PT Aneka Tambang (Persero) Tbk (Antam) announced on Tuesday it has started export of low grade nickel ore (less than 1.7% nickel) after it has received permit from ministry of energy and mineral resources.
The company said it has shipped 165,000 wmt to China and is currently preparing for next shipment schedule.
Antam has been cleared to export 2.7million wmt of nickel ore and 850,000 of bauxite ore per year.
CEO Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo said that revenue generated from ore export will help the company to develop its downstream mineral processing projects.
Antam has in April 2017 Antam has commenced first piling of Haltim ferronickel smelter in Halmahera Timur, North Maluku. The plant will have annual production capacity of 13,500 tonnes of nickel in ferronickel (TNi), increasing Antam?s capacity to 40.500-43.500 TNi.
Antam is also focusing on the plan to develop Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery to process bauxite ore, teaming up with another state company PT Inalum (Persero). The refinery is planned to have production capacity of 1 million tonnes of smelter grade alumina per year.
Antam has also signed MoU with copper smelter PT Smelting and copper-gold miner PT Freeport Indonesia to jointly develop anode slime & precious metal refinery.
