Antam swings to profit

Antam said in a statement Wednesday that net profit attributed to shareholders of parent entity in the January-June period of this year was Rp 11 billion, compared to a net loss of 396 billion in the same six-month period of last year.
Antam President Director Tedy Badrujaman said that with the current rise in commodity prices, the company will enjoy profit and provide better returns to shareholders this year.
Antam said that it booked a net sales of Rp 4.16 trillion in the first semester of this year, of which gold accounted for 68 percent, while ferronickel contributed 23 percent.
The company said that it sold 5,392 kg of gold in the first-half of this year, while ferronickel sales volume stood at 8,092 tons of nickel in ferronickel (TNi).
Antam said it was seeking to export gold products including to Malaysia, Singapore, United Emirate Arab, and African countries as part of market diversification strategy.
Elsewhere, the company said that construction progress of its Pomalaa ferronickel plant expansion project has reached 99.69 percent.
