The gold mining unit of state mining company PT Tambang Timah (Antam) has teamed up with the Forestry Research and Development Center in Bogor to rehabilitate unattended mining pits at the company's mining field in Pongkor, West Java.
Antam's corporate secretary Dohar Siregar said that the cooperation with the forestry R&D center belonging to state forestry company Perum Perhutani in Bogor would find rehabilitation measures over unattended mining pits in Pongkor, whose areas cover forests in Bongor, Mount Halimun National Park and also people's lands.
Dohar said that the cooperation with the forestry R&D center served as a follow up from their earlier cooperation that covered the reforestation of critical lands and the training of agro-forestry to people at Nanggung subdistrict. This training was especially done in cooperation with the authority overseeing the Mount Halimun National Parks. (*)
