Antam to build second anode slime processing facility

IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) plans to build a second anode slime smelter in Gresik, East Java, Kontan reported Wednesday.

The paper quoted Antam Corporate Secretary Tri HRtono as saying that the facility will have a capacity 2,000 tons of anode slime per year.

He said the company is set to invest US$40 million to develop the new anode slime smelter, which would help increase its gold output as it further process copper byproducts to extract for more gold.

Tri, however, said that the planned project would be realized once the planned government equity injection of Rp 3.5 trillion has materialized, and the government approves a proposal for the company to be exempted from the 10 percent value added tax in anode slime transaction to make the project feasible.

Antam ealier this year acquired an anode slime processing facility with capacity of 500 tons per year.(*)
