IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) through its subsidiary PT Mega Citra Utama (MCU) plans to build a plant to refine bauxite into proppants in West Kalimantan, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.
The paper quoted Antam Corporate Secretary Tri Hartono as saying that MCU, which will team up with PT Baramas Mandiri following the signing of an MoU, holds a bauxite concession in Cupang Village, Meliau District, Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan.
He added that the plant will have a production capacity of 250,000 tons per year of proppants, and will require 500,000 tons of bauxite. Main market for the output will be shale gas projects including the US. (*)
