Antam to use RKEF technology in East Halmahera project

IDX-listed mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said it will use rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) technology at its ferronickel smelter project in East Halmahera, North Maluku Province.
?The East Halmahera ferronickel smelter plant will use the RKEF technology,? said Antam Corporate Secretary Aprilandi Hidayat Setia on Wednesday to Petromindo.com, adding that RKEF is the best technology and that the company has also used the technology at its ferronickel smelter in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi. .
Antam started construction of the East Halmahera ferronickel smelter plant with a ground-breaking on April 25, 2017. The construction of the Rp 3.5 trillion worth project is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. ?And it will be followed up with commissioning phase,? Aprilandi said.
Currently, Antam operates three units of ferronickel smelter with four production lines and total capacity 27,000 ? 30,000 TNi per annum in Pomalaa. Once the East Halmahera project is completed, the company is expected to produce 13,500 TNi per annum from first production line.
