IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said it will transfer non-productive assets of its former mine in Gebe District, Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, to the regency administration.
The company said in a statement Thursday that it had signed an agreement on the transfer of the assets with the local regency administration on December 19.
The non-productive assets include clean water facilities, former employee housing facilities, and other buildings. Antam hopes the assets could be used for the interest of the general public.
Antam ended mining operation at Gebe in 2005, and in the following year started post-mining activities including through programs to empower the economy of the local people.
