South Kalimantan-based coal mining company PT Antang Gunung Meratus (AGM) plans to double its coal production from 824,000 tons last year to 1.7 million tons this year following the operation of new pits and the improvement of mining operation.

According to company 2005 plan and budget, the operation of two new pits at the Block II and one pit at the Block III will enable the company to obtain an additional production of 455,000 tons of coal.

AGM also has built a new stockpile in the Block II for this additional production and planned another 250,000 stockpile in the same block this year.

Last year, AGM sold all its coal products domestically to PT Mineratama Prima Abadi and PT Asia Pacific Coalindo with a calorific value of 6,500 Kcal/kg. The company plans to continue to sell its product to the same buyers this year. (maya)
