Anzon Energy plans 4-well drilling campaign in S. Sumatra

Australian junior oil firm Anzon Energy has planned 4-well drilling program in its Kaya and Kruh TAC areas onshore South Sumatra.

The company said approval for the first two wells had been obtained and. drilling on the Kaya property is anticipated to commence around mid July 2006. This first well is testing a new feature near the SE Kaya well as identified by the 3D seismic survey. The second well is a follow up to the discovery well, West Kruh-3, drilled last year. The remaining two wells are new prospects identified on the Kruh property, said the company in a report released Monday.

Anzon acquired its controlling interest in the Kaya and Kruh TACs in 2001. According to the company, Kaya has an estimated 2P reserves of 3 million barrels, while Kruh has an indicated 2P reserves between 8-10 million barrels, with significant upside potential of up to 50 million barrels. Production from the North Kruh oil field in the first six months was approximately 15,000 barrels. (alex)
