Apexindo?s Maera achieves 2 years without LTI

IDX-listed drilling rig provider Apexindo Pratama Duta reported that one of its submersible swamp barge rigs, Maera on February 7, 2011 has achieved two years without Lost Time Incident during working with Total E&P Indonesie.

Maera, built by Sembawang Shipyard, Singapore, is equipped with a sophisticated cantilever system that allows for a skidding function which enabling a stationary rig to drill several wells at different positions. The rig also designed with the capability of operating in water depths up to 25 feet and possessed a maximum drilling depth of 25,000 feet.

The rig is currently positioned at Handil, East Kalimantan for the 5 years drilling project with Total up to August 2012. This long term drilling contract is valued at US$145.8. Maera will be scheduled to drill Extended Light and Opti Light wells for the same client and since the project is quite new, it will most require the skills of Maera Team. However, Apexindo feels ready to accept the new challenge by drilling these wells and will always maintain its safety behavior, the company said. (alex).
