Apexindo to participate in Wayang Windu geothermal drilling tender

Drilling contractor PT Apexindo Pratama Duta intends to participate in a tender to provide a 1,500-HP rig for drilling program at Wayang Windu geothermal prospect in West Java.

?We have obtained the documents tender. As far we know, there are four companies will be our rival in this tender,? Apexindo president Hertiono Kartowisastro told a Public Expose on Tuesday.

Wayang Windu geothermal project is operated by Star Energy?s 100 percent-owned affiliate, Magma Nusantara Ltd. The first unit of the geothermal power plant which began operation in early 2000 has the capacity to produce about 110 MW.

Star Energy plans to build the second unit power plant with total investment of about US$100 million and is expected to begin operation in 2008, with total capacity of about110 MW.

Star Energy president Supramu Santosa confirmed Wednesday that the first sealed envelop for the rig tender will be opened on Dec 9. (godang)
