Aramco revives plan to build refinery in RI

Saudi Aramco has revived its interest to build a US$10 billion fuel refinery in Indonesia, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.

The Saudi Arabian oil company reiterated its interest in investing in Indonesia during a meeting with visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung was quoted by the paper as saying. Aramco wants to build refinery, fuel storage, and distribution system.

He said the Indonesian government is finalizing new regulations to facilitate investment by the private sector in the country?s fuel refinery sector.

Aramco decided late last year to cancel its plan to build refinery in Indonesia after its request for a 20-year tax holiday facility was turned down by the government. (*)
